“The very first question people often ask me is: What does your artist name Bodacious mean? Well, it goes back to the beginning of the 90’s and means something like “cooler than cool”. It sounded catchy and for me this name represented my dream, my ambition to become famous and respected.
I came a long way at the moment I started as DJ. As a child I was very much on myself. No gameboy, I did not play outside, no boyscouts around me……. I was only interested in music. To put it even stronger: in that phase of my life listening and playing music was the one and only way to express my emotions and it still is, every day again. .As a DJ and producer I just want to make people happy.”
From as long as Shane Voets remembers, he was attracted to music. “The fact that there was a record store in my hometown Antwerp (Belgium), where I listened to records and album tracks day after day, changed my life. The Record store had many USA import records – many of them on vinyl – and I started mixing them from 2002 on. That also was the time I started as a DJ, first on local parties and clubs, but later on also on events and clubs on a national and international scale”.
“As a producer I had to learn things in the “hardware age”, because by 2005 there was almost no software to produce all kind of sounds. Nevertheless that gave me a strong basis as producer, gradually mastering each step of the production process of a track ”. I still have very positive feelings over that period, because the enormous effort the production of a track required, made me feel very proud, once I finished it”.
